East Texas shelter needs help finding homes for animals

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -

An East Texas animal shelter is asking for your help to save stray and abandoned animals.

The numbers of cats and dogs being brought into the Humane Society of Northeast Texas in Longview is overwhelming. The shelter says they have received hundreds of new animals in the last few weeks and simply do not have enough room to keep them.

They need volunteers and foster families to help find homes for all of the animals left behind.

"We're taking in anywhere from 200 and more animals every week right now, we don’t have the accommodations, we have 145 accommodations and that’s it," says shelter director Scott Holloway.

Shelter employees are asking anyone who can give a dog or cat a good home to visit them during regular business hours.
