Sheriff: Young boy injured in accidental shooting inside Henderson Co. home

HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A young boy was shot inside a home in southwest Henderson County on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Henderson County sheriff, two boys were in the same room together when the shooting happened. Authorities believe one of the boys shot the other, but the shooting was accidental.

The home is located in the 14000 block of Highway 59 near the Cross Roads community in rural Henderson County. The victim was transported to East Texas Medical Center in Athens before being transported to Children's Medical Center in Dallas.

The Henderson County Sheriff's Office is investigating the shooting as well as the accessibility of the firearm to the children. The Henderson County Sheriff's Office investigators also executed a search warrant.
