QUEEN CITY, TX (KSLA) -

The suspect in an East Texas murder has been found in Cass County, dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sheriff Larry Roe said 55-year-old Leon Minnifield was found in the Piney Point Campground on Lake Wright Patman Wednesday night around 8:45 p.m.

Lake officials reportedly checked on a vehicle parked for a long time and found Minnifield dead inside of it.

Minnifield was wanted in connection with a shooting that happened late Tuesday night at a house at 1010 Muldew St. in Queen City. That's where police said they found Marshantha Frank, 27, shot dead.

Another woman, who has been identified as the dead woman's mother, was found shot at the house was airlifted to CHRISTUS St. Michael hospital in Texarkana, TX. Her name and age have not yet been released, but police said she is in critical condition.

Roe said an autopsy is pending and fingerprints were sent to the lab to confirm Minnifield's identity, but authorities believe it is him by other means of identification. Frank's body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

Police believe Minnifield and Frank got into an altercation, which led to him shooting and killing her. They have not determined the specifics of the fight.
