Wednesday's Weather: Scattered showers this afternoon. Highs in the upper 80s

Showers and storms will return to East Texas today, so keep your umbrella handy.
Moisture will continue to stream in from the Gulf, meeting up with a disturbance building in from the west. This will trigger showers and storms over our area, mainly in the afternoon and early evening hours. The best timing for scattered showers and storms will be from noon to 9:00 p.m., during the heat of the day. Once the sun sets, showers will begin to fall apart, much like what we saw yesterday.
Rain could become heavy at times, producing difficult to dangerous driving conditions. These storms could also be accompanied by frequent cloud to ground lightning, so please be safe today. We will keep you updated throughout the day as storms develop.
The chance for scattered showers and storms will continue through the end of the work week, with partly cloudy skies each day. Highs will stay in the upper 80s.
By this weekend, a ridge of high pressure will begin to build in from the west. This will bring mostly sunny skies, highs in the low 90s, and just a slight chance for afternoon showers. Mostly sunny skies continue through the middle of next week as the ridge of high pressure continues.
