SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Many East Texans are dealing with downed trees and damaged cars after Tuesday's severe weather.

DPS responded to dozens of serious wrecks. They say fortunately, no one was killed.

One of the wrecks they responded to involved a truck that slid off Interstate 20 and almost landed in the middle of an on-ramp. The driver was towing a U-haul and went off the road where the interstate meets Highway 69 in Lindale. DPS says he simply lost control and is lucky he wasn't hurt.

A short drive away, another truck slid off Interstate 20 and into a tree. The driver was headed westbound on I-20 near Lavender road. The tow truck driver says one look at the vehicle and you know God was watching over the people inside. He says the driver's door landed against a tree.

Others watched as their plants and trees were hammered by the storms. One family came home to their neighbors tree resting against their house. The couple says they've only lived in the home on Pecan Drive in Tyler for a month.

Fortunately, the tree did not poke a hole in the couple's roof. However, you can see a small crack in one wall where the tree is putting pressure on the house. The couple hired a cleaning service to take care of the water leaking into their house. They say the fallen tree will be removed on Wednesday.
