Recent Livingston High School grad dies as result of shooting incident

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

The Polk County Sheriff's Office and the Texas Rangers are investigating the shooting death of an 18-year-old Livingston man that occurred Monday night.

According to a Texas Department of Public Safety press release, Hunter Kelley died in a shooting incident at approximately 9:28 p.m. Monday.

"The Rangers are in the preliminary stage of the investigation," the press release stated. "More information will be provided as the investigation progresses."

Trooper David Hendry, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Safety, said Kelley was shot in his truck. Kelley was transported to Livingston's Memorial Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Hunter was a 2014 graduate of Livingston High School.
