TYLER, TX (KLTV) - Residents in Tyler are on edge after police say three men terrorized the city Sunday night. They held a gun to a toddler’s head, hit a homeowner over the head with a pistol, and stole from their homes.

According to police, two aggravated robberies and one burglary happened in Tyler between 9:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. on Sunday.

One took place on Mustang Trail, another happened on Sybil Lane, and the third on West Jackson Street. Police said matching descriptions of the suspects and the timing of each incident are what lead them to believe the incidents are related.

When Ashia Caine heard a knock at the door Sunday night, she thought it was a friend outside. But, when she opened the door, she saw three unfamiliar faces looking back.

“The second guy, he pulls out a gun and steps forward and he come on in. I tried to close him out and I was like well, he got a gun, he can pull the trigger, so I just backed up,” Caine said.

Once inside, the man waved the gun at her and asked for money. When she told him there was none, he pointed the gun at her one-year-old daughter’s head and said if she didn’t give him money, he would shoot.

“I held her closer so she wouldn’t look up. I just held her head down,” she said.

The men stole two cell phones and ran off down Jackson Street.

Around 9:30 Sunday night police said the same three men stopped at Mustang Trail. A victim on that street said she was at home Sunday night with her two young children and her husband was out front talking to a neighbor. That’s when those suspects walked up. One of them hit her husband in the head with a gun, told them to leave $500 in the mailbox, and said if they called the police they would kill their entire family.

She said the suspects then ran off. That woman didn’t want to be identified or go on-camera out of fear, but Lisa Ray, the property manager at an apartment complex near the third location on Sybil Lane, said residents are on edge.

“It’s not something you expect to happen, you know, right here in this area,” Ray explained.

The men approached a female resident, pointed a gun at her, and stole her debit card around 10:15 p.m.

“Scary,” Ray continued. “I think the longer, obviously, it goes on, the braver they’re gonna get and that means it could happen during the day. You just have to be on guard and be aware of your surroundings.”

Though none of the victims were seriously injured, fear lingers on the streets of Tyler.

Police said Sunday around 11:30 p.m. a vehicle was seen speeding and hitting other cars near Highway 31 and Loop 323 in Tyler. That vehicle was later found and police said it could be related to the suspects.

The suspects are described as two black males wearing hooded sweatshirts; however, the description of a third suspect is not clear. If you know anything you are asked to call Tyler police.
