Good Monday afternoon! We hope your day is going well.

Here are some stories for you to peruse today:

1. An East Texas man was arrested and charged with attempted capital murder of a peace officer after authorities say the man fired shots at a Van n County deputy on Sunday. Stephen Garrett Martin of Van Zandt County is in the VZ Co. jail on $1 million bond.

2. Tyler police are searching for three suspects after a string of aggravated robberies on Sunday night. The robberies happened on Mustang Trail, then on Sybil Lane, and finally on Jackson Street. If you have any information on this crime, please call police at 903-531-1000.

3. We certainly agree with all of you who say that East Texas skies are some of the most beautiful in the world; here are some of YOUR photos that prove that point!  You can share your photos with us at SendIt@KLTV.com.

4. If you're looking forward to Independence Day fireworks, you'll be happy to know that the next two weekends hold plenty of opportunities to see them. We've compiled a list for you here, and we hope you'll submit details of other confirmed fireworks events to us at webstaff@kltv.com.

 5. President Obama is hosting a daylong summit today to encourage more employers to adopt family-friendly policies, even though the U.S. government doesn't always set the best example. The United States is the only industrialized nation that doesn't mandate paid leave for mothers of newborns, although Obama says he'd like to see that change.

6.A medical transport helicopter carrying a patient to Texarkana made a hard landing in Bowie County on Monday afternoon. According to Texas DPS troopers on the scene, the EagleMed chopper was bringing the patient to CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System in Texarkana when a mechanical problem forced an emergency landing.

7. A 24-year-old teacher in Frankston ISD, Rachel Bauer, has been arrested for sexual assault of a child, inappropriate relationship with a student, and solicitation of a minor. The incident is still under investigation and authorities say there is a possibility there will be other charges, as well.
