According to the Smith County Sheriff's Office, late Saturday night, the 2009 Cadillac that was stolen from the bank attendant during the robbery of Austin Bank on Friday, was recovered in northwestern Cherokee County near the Cuney. The vehicle had been abandoned on a Cherokee County road. The vehicle has been taken to a Smith County Sheriff's Office facility where it will be processed by the Smith County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Unit.
Smith County sheriff's deputies were called around 7:06 a.m. Friday to the Austin Bank on Highway 155 South in Noonday. According to the sheriff, a suspect, armed with a revolver, forced an employee into the bank and took her keys. He then left the bank with an undetermined amount of cash and stole the employee's white Cadillac CTS.
The sheriff believes the suspect was dropped off at the scene. Authorities describe the suspect as a black male with a small build wearing an "Ace bandage" around his face.
