Hillary Clinton continues to hit all the major media outlets and doing interviews about her new book.
What is surprising but is really not surprising is that the interviews and town hall meetings focus more on early campaign questions than they do about the specifics of the book.It is like Mrs. Clinton starts with a few questions about her experiences and then the interview shifts subtly to forward issues of her anticipated presidential campaign.
Mrs. Clinton says it will be the end of this year or sometime next year before she formally announces, but her actions are speaking now like she has already made up her mind.
The carefully staged book tour shows also the power of the Clinton appeal. In live programming, it is obvious her team has demanded that the interviews be prominent, even trumping other news in some cases. On websites, her image dominates home pages.
The entire exercise is a reminder as well that the Clinton political machine was legendary when Bill Clinton was elected and it can certainly still be described like that now.Hillary Clinton may wait another half year to officially declare but she certainly looks like a candidate for president.
It is also apparent that Vice President Joe Biden has made the decision not to run for president, avoiding an internal struggle, so it is conceivable that the Democrats are set and the campaign for 2016 is already here. The political process will be in place but it may not be much of a contest.
