Former Groveton running back dies at 41

One of the best running backs in Texas high school history has passed away. Former Groveton star Rodney Thomas died on Saturday night in his mother's home in Groveton. He was 41 years old.

Thomas led the Indians to back to back state titles in 1989 and 1990. He ranks fifth all time on the Texas high school rushing list with over 8,400 yards.

After a great career at Groveton, Thomas attended Texas A&M University before playing seven seasons in the NFL with the Oilers, Titans, and Falcons.

The former Aggie leaves behind a wife and child. The cause of death at this time is uncertain
