EAST TEXAS (KLTV) - Two women were killed in a shooting on Sunday morning in Longview. After the shooting, authorities say the suspect led police on a pursuit that spanned multiple counties before ending in Smith County.

According to officials, 38-year-old Chanda Martin was killed inside the home on the 300 block of Thelma Street in Longview. As 35-year-old Kimberly Rayson drove up to the home, she saw the accused shooter, Isaiah Christopher Roberts, 29. Roberts then allegedly shot and killed her as she was getting out of her vehicle. A third victim was transported to a local hospital.

It was a confusing and frightening scene for neighbors as shots rang out. Neighbors say Roberts was the ex-husband of Martin.

"I heard what I thought was firecrackers and didn't put 2 and 2 together. I heard the first bang," says neighbor Wilma Morgan.

"Yeah, I heard a shot go off and that's when I come out that door right there outside. I heard shooting going on and glass breaking, all kind of stuff in there," says neighbor Kenneth Hays. Staring an armed man in the face, Hays risked his life calling 911 right in front of Roberts.

The pursuit, involving a black dodge pick-up, headed south on Highway 271, entering Smith County and Tyler City limits. Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved, including the Smith County Sheriff's Office, Department of Public Safety, and constables.

Witnesses reported seeing the black Dodge pick-up speeding westbound, down Highway 80, traveling around 100 mph, with multiple law enforcement agencies close behind.

"I heard sirens and I looked over and I could see out the door and I seen like eight cop cars just fly by and then a few seconds later, another one flew by and then another one. They just flew through the red light, didn't honk, stop, slow down, nothing," says witness Belinda Poppell.

Police say that officers attempted to deploy spike strips in two different areas, but were unsuccessful in stopping the suspect. The pursuit continued south on Highway 271, and then west onto Gentry Parkway.

The pursuit then continued south on Loop 323, to Highway 31, where the suspect turned east onto Front Street, and then north onto Glenwood. The suspect stopped his vehicle at the intersection of Glenwood and Hill and was taken into custody by officers. Police found two guns in the vehicle.

Roberts was originally booked into the Smith County Jail on five separate counts of causing an accident which resulted in injury, a third degree felony. On Monday, the authorities determined that the crash occurred before the pursuit entered the crash scene, so police will ask that the five accident causing injury charges be dropped.

Tyler police say no serious injuries resulted from the accident.
