After a full and exciting day one, the Alabama track and field team had a light schedule on day two of the NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus Thursday.

Junior Charodd Richardson launched an opening throw of 63.88 meters (209 feet, 7 inches) en route to a 13th-place finish in the men's hammer throw competition. Amid a light rain, Richardson followed his first attempt with a mark of 63.28 meters (207 feet, 7 inches) on his second try and fouled on his third and final attempt. Richardson placed sixth in his heat but did not advance to the finals.

Sophomore Josh McCullan jumped a mark of 7.17 meters (23 feet, 6.5 inches) on his first attempt of the men's long jump competition. McCullan fouled on his final two tries and finished 10th in his flight to close out the Crimson Tide's day.

Alabama returns to a much fuller schedule on Friday, highlighted by junior Remona Burchell in the finals of the women's 100 meters, where she is the top seed out of the semifinals, where she ran the fastest wind-aided time in the world this year, 10.95. The Tide will also have freshman Lakan Taylor in the women's pole vault, sophomore Justin Fondren in the high jump and redshirt freshman Hayden Reed in the discus on the meet's third day.

Fondren is seeded third in the high jump, while Taylor is seeded tied for fifth in the pole vault and Reed is seeded seventh in the discus coming into the championships. Taylor gets the Tide started on Friday, with the pole vault getting underway at 3:15 p.m. PT.

With the smallest enrollment in District 17-5A, and really across the entire classification, Lindale could use that as an excuse for a sub-par season. But under defensive coordinator, turned head coach Chris Cochran, that won't be the case.
