GRAND SALINE, TX (KLTV)
The East Texas town of Grand Saline celebrates its salt heritage June 12-14 at their annual Salt Festival. It will also be celebrating its 40th anniversary of the festival and the 100th anniversary of the Morton Salt Umbrella Girl.
Salt deposits have been known in the Grand Saline area as far back as recorded history. Because of the huge salt dome under Grand Saline, the Morton Salt Mine could supply salt for the entire United States for thousands of years.
