(KLTV) - Longview police say a man suspected of scamming a citizen has been arrested.

37-year-old Sam Stanley, of Texarkana, TX, was charged with 3rd-degree felony theft and was transported to the Gregg County Jail.

On Thursday, the Longview Police Department released a statement that a citizen called to report being scammed out of a significant amount of money by two men. The citizen was told that the two men could resurface their driveway, however the next day, the patch work had already washed out of the cracks of the victim's driveway.

Longview police urge citizens not to allow anyone to do any type of unsolicited repair work, lawn care, or other services, and to find a reputable company. You are encouraged to contact local police if you suspect this type of work is being performed, or if you have been victimized by a scam artist.
