MOUNT PLEASANT, TX (KLTV) -
Entering the night, Mount Pleasant's Michael Kopech had to have butterflies in his stomach. Why? Because the star pitcher had a legitimate shot at being drafted during the first round the Major League Baseball draft.
It took until pick number 33, but the Boston red Sox drafted Kopech who is currently committed to play at the University of Arizona. Kopech can touch 98 mph with his fastball and throws both a slider and curveball. The East Texan needless to say is blown away.
I'm speechless honestly, I'm over here crying like a little girl," Kopech said. "My mom is the first person I tried to get to. Its an unbelievable feeling it really is. I have been waiting on this for three years, and it's the greatest feeling in my life. "
