BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police have charged a UAB basketball player with third-degree domestic violence.

Police say senior point guard Chad Frazier was arrested Wednesday in connection to an April 17 incident.

Basketball coach Jerod Haase said "we will not be able to comment further," because the case is ongoing.

The victim told police that Frazier allegedly threw a laptop into the room where she was. The altercation allegedly escalated to physical violence.

The victim said Frazier allegedly pushed her into a bookshelf and pinned her on the ground by pushing down on her upper chest. While she was on the ground, Frazier allegedly hit her several times with a closed fist.

The victim said she bit Frazier twice on his left arm and tried to kick him in the genitals while on the ground. The officer who responded to the incident reported seeing bruises on the victim's upper arms, small scratches on her left knee and redness on her left cheek.

Frazier was released from custody on a $1,000 bond.
