Van softball advances to 3A championship game

AUSTIN, TX (KLTV) - In a record setting performance by both teams, the Van Lady Vandals held off Snyder in the 3A state semifinal Thursday morning in Austin.  Despite trailing 4-1 after two innings, the Lady Vandals came back to defeat Snyder 15-13 in the highest scoring 3A state tournament game in history.

The teams combined for 34 hits.  The game was tied at six after the third inning, but Van opened the game up with seven runs in the 4th inning.  Snyder continued to climb back in, scoring three runs in the final inning, before a tag out at home plate ended the game.

Ashlin Lovett, Kylee Moore and Autumn McKinney all had 3 RBI for the Lady Vandals.

Van advances to the 3A state championship game Saturday morning at 10 against La Grange.
