Former Tyler pharmacist sentenced for sexual assault of a child

TYLER, TX (KLTV) - A former Tyler pharmacist has been sentenced for sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, 73-year-old James Carey Prosperie sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 17 multiple times during summer break. Prosperie's wife saw her husband "whispering and smiling" at the girl. His wife told investigators "she had a bad feeling about what she saw."

Court documents reveal that the girl told Prosperie's wife that he was sexually assaulting her. Prosperie's wife informed the victim's parents who then filed a police report.

James Carey will spend 32 years in prison, 16 for sexual assault of a child, and 16 for indecency with a child/sexual contact.
