East Texans spent part of their day Saturday, pitching in to help the environment.
The City of Tyler hosted it's annual "recycle day". With the help of local cub scout pack 369, the City collected everything from old soda cans and bottles, to newspapers and boxes.
The city holds the day each year in conjunction with both the state and national recycling day programs. Residents say it's a good time to clean up their homes while helping the environment... and something even the kids can get into.
"Learning about the environment, learning what they can do with the recyclables, learning how everyone in the community pitches in together," said den leader, Brett Landis. "Seeing everybody pull up in their cars here and these kids helping out and learning that it's not just the city that does it but the Tyler residents that do it."
