Authorities identify man killed during high-speed chase

Posted: Updated:
SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - Authorities have released the names of two men involved in a high-speed chase near Bullard on Saturday night.

The driver, Christopher Blake Lucas, 26, of Tyler, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the car, Travis Allen Holley, 24, also of Tyler, was taken to an area hospital.

Department of Public Safety officials say a trooper tried to pull over the men's car for a routine traffic stop when it took off near Farm to Market 346. Officials lost sight of the vehicle, but spotted it again near County Road 188. Officers deployed spike strips, puncturing three of the vehicle's tires, but the car continued down the road. A short time later, the car ran off the road in a turn and rolled over.

Officials say four pounds of marijuana was found in inside the car.
