BULLARD, TX (KLTV) -

One man is dead and another was taken to a local hospital after their vehicle flipped during a high speed chase near Bullard on Saturday night.

Department of Public Safety officials said a trooper tried to pull a Chrysler over for a routine traffic stop when the vehicle took off near Farm to Market 346. At one point, officials lost the vehicle, but then spotted it again near County Road 188.

Law enforcement was able to drop spike strips puncturing three of the vehicles tires, but the driver kept on going. The Chrysler ran off the road at a turn and rolled. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. A male passenger was taken to a local hospital.

Officials said four pounds of marijuana were found inside that car.
