LINDALE, TX (KLTV) - A new restaurant opened in Lindale in May 2014, offering fresh twists on classic favorites in modern-casual surroundings. It's called Bo's Steak & Grill and it is likely to become a favorite local hangout in northern Smith County.

Executive Chef Brian Crawford worked with his local team to put together a menu for Bo's that, he says, "has the atmosphere that you're in your backyard with friends, but we've kicked up your favorites."

Some of those new twists include salmon stuffed deviled eggs, backyard nachos (crisp potato chips topped with barbecued brisket and spices) and our favorite, a candied bacon appetizer. This appetizer was delicious (that really goes without saying; it's bacon!): thick cut smoked bacon, glazed with brown sugar and cajun seasonings, and broiled to crisp perfection. Those appetizers, he says, will be rotated often so you can try new things as the freshest ingredients become available during different seasons.

The Bo Daddy Burger, now that I've visited a few times, is a favorite. It is a delicious beef burger topped with cheddar cheese, spicy barbecued brisket, bacon, lettuce, tomato, barbecue ranch and pickles. The sweet potato fries are perfect: sweet, crisp, and hot. And if you're still hungry, the macaroni and cheese is a can't miss, with it's savory blend of four cheeses baked into ziti pasta.

Crawford, who has been in the restaurant industry for years, says this new concept is unlike any he's helped put together. He comes from a family of restaurateurs and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, so he's worked in many environments: resorts, hotels, corporate chains and the like. However, he loves the idea that is being set forth with Bo's.

"We make nearly everything from scratch in our kitchen; we are working to line up locally grown produce to use. We want to embrace the community as they are embracing us," Crawford said. "We aren't fast food, or even fast casual; you will order at the front, but once you are seated, you receive full service. We bring you your drinks, we take care of anything you need."

We had to ask about desserts, of course; the restaurant has a good selection, including summer berry stackers, as well as key lime pie, and apple ginger crisp.

Unique and fun twists Bo's offers are drinks served in red Solo cups, and sauces served in mini red Solo cups.  Some appetizers and desserts are brought to the table in Mason jars, which will make them easy to hold onto if you decide to sit around the circular fireplace in one of the bright, comfortable club chairs.

We chatted with a young family who was trying out the restaurant for the first time gave it their seal of approval. Joel and Kali, along with baby girl Zephyr, enjoyed their meal and said "We definitely needed something like this in Lindale! We hope it's a good sign about the city's economic growth and that more new places will open." They tried the backyard nachos and club sandwiches, and said they enjoyed it very much and will be back.

Though the Lindale location is the first location, there are plans for more Bo's Steak & Grill restaurants around the country.

Bo's is located at 3405 S. Main, just across from IHOP. You can call them at (903)881-5758 or visit their Facebook page here. Their hours are Monday through Thursday 10:45 a.m. - 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday 10:45 a.m. - 11 p.m. Sunday 9:45 a.m. - 10 p.m.
