DPS, Smith Co. SWAT called to remove man barricaded in home
From the Smith County Sheriff's Department:
SMITH COUNTY, TX - At approximately 6:21 p.m. on Thursday, the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call from local Department of Public Safety officers requesting assistance from the Sheriff’s Office SWAT team.
Tyler DPS officers were assisting with the execution of a warrant from Collin County for a local man. The subject barricaded himself inside his residence located on County Road 167 in the southwest part of Smith County. The SWAT team arrived on scene and set up a secure perimeter. Negotiators from the Smith County Sheriff’s Office were able to contact the subject via telephone and at approximately 7:15 p.m. were able to talk him into giving himself up.
The identity of the subject has not been released at this time. He was taken into custody by Smith County deputies and released into the custody of DPS officers on the scene.
