A Smith County man is in jail on Thursday after police say he shot his brother on Wednesday around 7:15 p.m.

The Smith County Sheriff's Office got a call from Henderson County authorities who said they had received a 911 call about a disturbance. On the call, authorities reported hearing a woman yelling about a firearm and someone bleeding. Authorities traced the call to Smith County and a deputy was sent to a residence in the 16800 block of County Road 1112 in the Flint area.

When the deputy arrived, he spoke with a woman who said that Kye Raibon, 38, shot his brother, Re'al Johnson, 33. The woman said Raibon fled the scene with a weapon, while Johnson left looking for medical care.

A motorist called the sheriff's office a few minutes later saying there was a man with no shirt standing in the middle of the road screaming for someone to take him to a hospital.

Sheriff Larry Smith along with the Smith County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team, multiple deputies, a K-9 unit, Smith County constable's unites and Department of Public Safety troopers arrived at the scene and conducted a search for Raibon.

“Mr. Raibon fled into a wooded area near the residence, but with the arrival and assistance of the DPS helicopter, at approximately 9:34 p.m., the Smith County Sheriff's Office SWAT Team located Raibon, placed him under arrest and recovered the weapon,” said Sheriff Larry Smith. “From preliminary reports from witnesses at the scene, it appears that Mr. Raibon and his brother, Mr. Johnson, got into an argument and the shooting stemmed from that," added the Sheriff.

"We were out on the porch last night around 8:30-9 'o clock and we saw a helicopter roaming the area with a spotlight searching for something," recalls resident Jennifer Melton.

The Sheriff's office says both men reportedly lived at a home off CR 1112 with other family members, but they went separate ways after the shooting.

According to a woman working out at East Texas Medical Center Lake Palestine, two young men brought the shooting victim to the clinic for help. The witness says the young men explained they worked at Pine Cove Christian Camp and found the man on the side of the road. The woman says a registered nurse who was at the clinic gym provided first aid while others called 911.

Counselors at Pine Cove say the camp was on lock down for about 45 minutes on Wednesday night because of a manhunt. However, there are no campers there this week. Pine Cove's chief operating officer said the victim appeared to be a resident of a nearby neighborhood and was not affiliated with the camp.

Raibon was taken to the Smith County Sheriff's Office for questioning. He was later charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a family member and booked in to the Smith County Jail where he is being held on $150,000 bond.
