LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - After a brief waiting period, a current assistant superintendent at Longview ISD is likely to be named superintendent of the district.

Longview ISD officials say tonight that Horace Williams is the lone finalist for the superintendent of schools position. The vote was unanimous, officials told us.

Williams, a Leverett's Chapel native, began his job as an assistant superintendent back in October 2013. Prior to that, he was superintendent of schools in Cedar Hill ISD, as well as Diboll ISD and on Long Island, New York.  During his time in New York, Williams oversaw the passage of a $207 million school construction bond.

At the time of his hire in October, Superintendent Dr. James E. Wilcox said, “Horace has a long history of implementing positive academic change and we couldn’t be more pleased to have him working for the children of Longview ISD."
