TYLER, TX (KLTV) -
Martin Heines was officially sworn in as Tyler mayor, replacing Barbara Bass after six years in office.
Heines says that the city has a very bright future, and he wants to keep the city moving forward and continue the work already set in motion by the city council.
"I'm committed to continue that strong financial management of community," says Mayor Heines. He adds, "We're going to look forward towards innovation and entrepreneurial economy and look into what we can do as a community to influence our public schools."
Heines praised Bass's strong leadership and service to the Tyler community.
