FRANKSTON, TX (KLTV) -
An East Texas fugitive has been captured by Department of Public Safety Troopers.

Victor Jose Ortega, 33, escaped from the back of a patrol car in Dogwood City on Friday after being arrested for parole violation. He was also wanted on six local charges totaling $900,000 bond.

An anonymous tip led DPS troopers to Frankston, where they found Ortega in a vehicle driving east on Murchinson Street. A Frankston police officer attempted to stop the suspect, but he refused, and led the police officer on a short pursuit. Troopers were able to stop Ortega in the Subway parking lot on Highway 155 in Frankston.

Ortega is being held in the Anderson County Jail where he will face charges of failure to identify, three charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, and escape.
