Meteorologist Daniel Graves joined the Storm Tracker Weather team in May 2014.
He was born and raised in Hammond, Louisiana, however he does have some East Texas roots. Daniel’s father was raised right here in Tyler, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School before enlisting in the military. Some of Daniel’s earliest memories are from visits to Tyler to see his ‘Granny’ and other relatives that live in East Texas for Thanksgiving.
Daniel has been interested in weather ever since he can remember. What started out as a fear of thunderstorms as a child has turned into a deep passion for understanding how weather works. His biggest weather memories are experiencing Hurricane Andrew in 1992 and Katrina in 2005, and seeing the devastation these powerful storms left behind.
Daniel received a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science from the University of Louisiana at Monroe. While attending college, Daniel was an active member of the local chapter of the American Meteorological Society, and won an in-school forecasting tournament. Daniel previously interned at WDSU-TV in New Orleans for two years.
Aside from weather, Daniel is an avid tennis fan. On his days off, you can probably find him on a local tennis court or keeping up with professional tennis on TV. He also enjoys running, going to the movies, and watching college and pro football.
