He was too old for Make-A-Wish, but that didn't stop an entire East Texas community from coming together to make Cory Moraw's wish come true.

Moraw is from Tatum and was born with DiGeorge Syndrome, a chromosomal abnormality that causes a variety of medical issues. Doctors told Moraw's family he wouldn't live past 18. Now he's 28, but a new diagnosis of diabetes and cirrhosis of the liver has doctors projecting Cory will live just one to five more years. That's why when a fund was set up to make his wish of seeing Britney Spears in concert come true, an entire community came together and raised enough money in a matter of hours.

Cory Moraw's room is full of all things he loves. There’s a banner from Texas A&M University, dance photos, and Britney Spears CD’s.

"I always love her," Moraw said.

The fundraising site went up Sunday night and by Monday morning, $11,000 had been raised - enough to get Moraw and his mother to Las Vegas to see his idol.

"It's just been overwhelming with all the donations and the love and I guess the biggest part of it for me is the love and the sweet compliments that people have been saying about Cory," Janet Russom, Moraw’s mother, said.

Moraw's step sister, Erica Russom, created the site.

"I mean I fought with him and Kasey just like they were my own brother and sister," Erica Russom said.

The two are close and say it's because they've been through a lot together. In 2003 Moraw's sister, Kasey, was killed in a car wreck.

"I want him to be happy," Erica said.

They've decided on a special date to see the show: August 19, Kasey's birthday.

"He really feels Kasey put that date out there for him and we think she's a part of this, he's helping with all of this," his mother said.

Because of an entire community, a wish will come true.

"He tells everyone you're my best friend and you're like a brother to me and I mean he makes people feel like they're special to him because they are," his stepsister said.

They're grateful for donations from East Texans and people across the country, but there's something that means even more.

"It's not even so much about the money anymore, it's about how much they love Cory, or love his story, and how much Cory loves the people," Allen Moraw, Moraw’s stepfather, said.

If more money is raised they are hoping to bring the rest of the family along and purchase back stage passes so that Cory can meet Spears. If you would like to donate, click here.
