Wood County Electric Cooperative experiencing power outages in Van Zandt and Wood Counties.
EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -
East Texans in Van Zandt and Wood Counties were left without power around 10:15 a.m. Sunday.
According to Wood County Electric Cooperative, a transmission outage affected over 3,500 meters of their service territory. These areas included: Van, Grand Saline, Lindale, Red Springs, Ben Wheeler, and Lake Holbrook.
They say the outage was caused by a fault on the transmission line. Power has been restored to all meters.
Those affected should:
- Report outages to the cooperative at 1-866-415-2951. Due to a high volume of calls, some calls may revert to the automated system. This system allows input of the necessary information to record an outage.
- Use extreme caution with any usage of generators and only outdoors. Never connect a generator directly to a home as it can present electrocution risk to utility workers and neighbors served by the same transformer.
- Be patient.
- Those with mobile communications devices can check the real-time progress of outages and restoration by going to www.wcec.org and clicking the Current Outages link on the bottom left of the screen.
