Mistletoe & Magic Means Big Business For Small Businesses

Whether you're just starting your holiday shopping, or you're looking for that hard-to-find person, Mistletoe and Magic has something for everyone.

"It's just a wonderful atmosphere," says one shopper.

"There's things you can't find here in stores," says another shopper.

The 26th annual Junior League event welcomed vendors from across the country. Small business owners say its worth it for them to make the trip, because East Texans love to shop and selling a lot of product is imperative for their success this holiday.

"Mistletoe and Magic is really important for us, for branding, getting people familiar with our handbags," says Kristen Way, who came all the way from Virginia to sell her handbags which have been featured in "In Style Magazine."

"Activities like this are very important for small businesses it gives us the chance to have ready cash flow," she adds.

John Copeland came from Kansas to sell his new children's videos, called "The Rainbow Valley Fire Department."

"We are a brand new company. At this point we are just trying to get the word out and this type of event is a great way to do it," says John.

Both Krisin and John say Mistletoe and Magic is one major way they can compete with the big chain store this season. With proceeds from the event going to East Texas charities, shoppers say they'd rather buy here than the big stores.

"It's as much supporting the charities as much as finding the novel item I would not find at some of the other stores," says one shopper.

That makes Mistletoe and Magic a big win win for everyone.
