East Texas Soldier Injured In Fallujah

An East Texas Soldier is among the soldiers wounded since fighting began this week in Fallujah.

U.S. Marine, Jody Perritte, was shot by insurgent sniper fire sometime early yesterday morning. His father, Jerry Perritte, was able to speak to his son who explained to him how it happened.

Jerry says his son told him they had, "started across the street and he was running as fast as he could, but he said somehow a bullet came out of nowhere and he said it turned him sideways. But he said that it was God that kept his hand upon him and protected him. He said if he had fallen in the street, they probably would have shot him while he was down until he would have died."

Jody's father says he was shot in the arm. His wounds are not life-threatening.

At last report, Jody was being treated at a military hospital in Kuwait.
