(RNN) – Come Monday, golf will have a new No. 1: Adam Scott.

According to PGA.com, Tiger Woods, who has been out of commission since undergoing back surgery ahead of the Masters, will cede the title to the 33-year-old Australian. The change comes even though Scott is taking the week off, skipping the Byron Nelson Championship.

Throughout his career, Woods has held the No. 1 spot for 683 weeks, though not all consecutively. He last regained the title in 2013 after losing it in 2010 while dealing with an injury and a flurry of issues off the course, including a very public divorce.

It caps off quite a run for Scott, who won the Masters in 2013 and quietly got married in April.

Woods has given no timetable for his return to golf. In a recent blog post, he said his recovery from surgery for a pinched nerve is "a very slow process."

Woods said he has done some putting and speaks with doctors on a regular basis to access his progress.

"Some people heal up in three months; some people take four months; some people take longer," Woods wrote. "I just don't know."
