EAST TEXAS (KLTV) -
Tuesday calls for periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms to move across the region. The front will have moved through but, waves of rainfall will continue to move into the area. Look for temps to cool off with highs only in the mid 60s Tuesday. The rainfall will once again continue in waves through Wednesday morning before the entire system finally begins to move to the east. This brings up the next issue with this system. Even though most of the area is running a 5-8 inch rainfall deficit for the year, getting too much rainfall at one time can lead to flooding issues. Especially in low-lying, poor drainage areas. The latest guidance continues to indicate the potential of pretty large rainfall amounts in the 3-6 inch range. This may arrive too fast for parts of the area leading to flash flooding issues. We will have to monitor this potential threat very closely. The good news is that once the rainfall ends Wednesday morning, we get to enjoy an extended streak of nice and unseasonably cool weather. Highs on Wednesday will be held in the mid 60s with overnight lows by Thursday morning, all the way down into the low to mid 40s. I would not at all be surprised to see a few upper 30s in some of our cooler locations! Look for plenty of sunshine to continue for the rest of your work week and right through the upcoming weekend.
