Good Monday afternoon!

Here are some stories for you to peruse on this lovely day:

1. We are going to get some rain, it seems! Chief Meteorologist Mark Scirto says that as a cold front moves through East Texas this evening and tonight, showers and a few strong to severe storms are possible along and ahead of the front. Gusty winds and large hail are the primary threats with the storms, however, the main threat over the next two days will be Flash Flooding. You'll want to read more here and make sure to watch the forecast live on East Texas News at 4, 5 and 6.

2. A couple and their dog were able to escape being hit by an oncoming train after their truck stalled on some train tracks in Harrison County Monday afternoon. Crews are working to clear the scene.

3. The three teens we told you about last week who were suspected in several Smith County burglaries turned themselves in to authorities on Thursday. The Smith County Sheriff's Office said 18-year-old Broderick Darrnell Willis of Flint, 19-year-old Payton Joseph Raymond of Flint and 19-year-old Austin Michael Drain of Tyler are now in custody.

4. Sadly, an East Texas soldier, U.S. Army Specialist Shawn N. Bounds, 23, was killed in a rollover accident in Alaska on Saturday. Bounds had served in the Army since May 2011, and spent several months in Afghanistan.

5. Make sure to submit your East Texas events to us for greatest reach; we have a new web page, TheLoop.KLTV.com, where you can share information and read more about people and events in our region. You can also add your events to our new events calendar, Events.KLTV.com. We will help you spread the word!
