CASS COUNTY, TX (KSLA) -

More details are emerging about the arrest Monday morning of the man wanted in connection with a deadly shooting over the weekend in Nash, Texas.

The deadly shooting happened Sunday night at the Pine Ridge Estates trailer park in Nash, Texas about 5 miles west of Texarkana, Texas.

Police soon after began a search for James Austin Friend, wanted on a warrant for the murder of 31-year-old Larry Gray, Jr. of Texarkana.

The search continued overnight in an area near Kings Highway between Proetz Lane and Highway 82 on the ground and from the air, but it was a call to the Cass County Sheriff's Office from a family member of Friend's that ultimately led to his arrest.

Police say the family member in Domino, TX told them Friend wanted to turn himself in. Deputies met Friend at the relative's home and he was taken into custody without incident just after 7 a.m. and is now being held without bond in Cass County. He is being taken to the Bi-State Justice Center in Bowie County to face the charges.

Investigators did find a weapon, but police are not saying if it is the murder weapon.

Police say Friend got into an argument with Gray who was dating his estranged wife, pulled out a gun and shot him multiple times.

Police say Friend's estranged wife and three children were in the home at the time of the shooting.

Friend has a criminal record in Cass County that includes assault, evading arrest and burglary.
