President Bush Nominates Alberto Gonzales For Attorney General

Some breaking news to tell you about this afternoon. President Bush has formally nominated a replacement for former Attorney General John Ashcroft who announced his resignation yesterday.

Just moments ago, the President held a press conference to nominate White House Counsel, Alberto Gonzales to be Ashcroft's successor.

During the conference, President Bush called Gonzales a, "calm and steady voice in times of crisis."

Gonzales is the most prominent Hispanic in the administration and if confirmed by the Senate, he will be the first Hispanic Attorney General.
