After defeating East Texas Baptist five times out of six this season, the UT Tyler softball team came up short in the seventh meeting, falling 4-1 to their rival from Marshall.  With the loss, the Patriots end the year with an overall record of 41-6.

After both teams went scoreless for the first four innings, UT Tyler struck first, as Raven Rodriguez hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the fifth.

In the top of the sixth, East Texas Baptist (41-7) answered quickly, tying the score with a Lacey Lindsey single.

The turning point of the game happened as Patriots' starter Kelsie Batten issued a bases-loaded walk, making the score 2-1 Tigers.

Kaitlyn Hollingshead gave ETBU two more insurance runs with a single, making the score 4-1 ETBU.

The Patriots could not take advantage of seven totaly hits, leaving six runners on base and going 0-5 with runners in scoring position.

UT Tyler ends their season with 41 wins, the third-most in program history behind last season's 47 and 2008's 43 wins.
