UT-Tyler softball drops opening game of regional tournament

The UT Tyler softball team managed 11 hits against Texas Lutheran, but could only score once, eventually falling 2-1 in 10 innings in game one of the 2014 NCAA Tyler Texas Regional on Friday afternoon.

Both teams entered the final inning with no runs-scored, but the Patriots (41-5) got the first run of the game on a Lauren Robenalt single, making the score 1-0.

Texas Lutheran (32-7) would not go away, getting three hits in the bottom of the seventh, eventually tying the score at 1-1 on a Heather Hammil single.

Three innings later, in the bottom of the 10th, TLU pinch-hitter Nicole Clodfelter delivered a double to left, ending the game 2-1.

UT Tyler totaled 11 hits in the game, but left 10 runner on while the Bulldogs finished with 10 total hits and 10 runners stranded.

The second game of the day between East Texas Baptist and TLU was postponed, as was the night cap between UT-Tyler and ETBU. Both games will be played on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m respectively.

UT-Tyler will be facing elimination.
