Authorities say the man arrested during a SWAT team raid yesterday in Longview is a major drug dealer in Gregg county.

Several SWAT teams and the Longview Police Department used flash-bang devices before raiding two homes on Cotton Street in south Longview.

32-year-old Saeed Abasi Pruitt was arraigned this morning and is charged with drug possession.

Officials say he has a long history of drug arrests, and yesterday they were prepared for Pruitt to be armed and dangerous.

"Because of high risk situations, we always use SWAT, because it is a high risk situation. It's come a long way and it's for a safety reason," says CODE administrator Chuck Willeford.

SWAT teams and CODE agents used narcotics search warrants to storm the two homes on Cotton street.

"Longview police and SWAT served two simultaneous search warrants for narcotics. It's a trap house," says Longview police officer Kristie Brian.

Longview police used flash-bang devices in one of the homes before they entered. There were around a dozen officers positioned around both of the houses.

"You want to go in as quick as possible, because you don't want anyone getting injured," Willeford says.

Officials are not saying exactly what was seized during the raid, but Pruitt is charged with two counts of drug possession.

A woman staying at one of the homes was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Pruitt is being held in the Gregg County jail on more than $8500 bond.
