SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - A Tyler man has been found guilty of killing his partner.

Late Thursday, jurors convicted Christopher Wiley of murder in the death of 52-year-old Rodney Walker.
Walker was fatally shot at their home in the Azalea District in July 2013.

Defense attorneys claimed that Walker had abused Wiley over the past several years. Wiley claimed that the shooting happened after he felt threatened by Walker.

Wiley could now face up to life in prison. The punishment phase will  begin on Friday at 8:30 a.m.
