LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) - The Spring Hill Independent School District mechanic who was driving a bus when it struck a pickup truck on Monday passed his drug test.

Interim superintendent Rick Flanagan told KLTV the incident was an accident. The mechanic, B.J. Benton, will not drive buses anymore.

The driver of one of the pick-up truck, 86-year-old Marion Stephens of Longview, is still in the hospital, but is expected to survive. Longview police say another vehicle was struck when the bus pushed the pick-up truck into it.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Spring Hill Rd and McCann Rd in Longview.

The bus was returning from a repair shop at the time of the accident, so there were no children on board. Benton was ticketed for failing to yield the right of way.
