Alligator caught after being spotted in Bossier City culvert

Posted: Updated:
BOSSIER CITY, LA (KSLA) -

An alligator has been caught after roaming through a culvert Tuesday evening in a Bossier City yard.

The 6-foot-long gator was spotted in the 200 block of Wood Run Place. He was caught by agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries by way of a noose.

The gator, which was unharmed, will have a new home in a local body of water.

Here's some interesting alligator facts from the LDWF:

  • Alligators hiss and just like a cat, hissing is a warning that you're too close
  • Wild alligators don't commonly chase people, but they can run up to 35 mph for short distances
  • There are close to two million wild alligators in Louisiana.

You can report a nuisance alligator online.
