SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) -

Former CBS Sports broadcaster Tim Brando guest anchored on KSLA News 12 This Morning Tuesday as we celebrate 60 years of broadcasting Coverage You Can Count On in the ArkLatex.

Brando has some family history with KSLA. His father, Hub, was an entertainer and a broadcasting pioneer in Shreveport. Hub Brando went to broadcasting school in Minneapolis. When he his son says, "this radio thing was turning into a TV thing, in the 50s." Brando says his father represented one of the factions that vied for dual ownership of the station, with the FCC. That fell through, but Hub Brando went on to participate in the ownership of another station that came on the air later in Shreveport.

Tim Brando also offered his take on the future of the Independence Bowl, now that Duck Commander is committing to a 6-year sponsorship deal with the bowl.

"This is a marvelous move for the bowl," Brando said. "There have been some questions about the construction of the contract, that will be taken care of eventually. But I'm of the belief that if this is about merchandising and this is about entertainment value, I can't think of a better marriage than the one between Duck Commander and the Independence Bowl."

We enjoyed having Tim Brando with us, and we look forward to our next special guest! We're not revealing who it is just yet. Stay tuned!
