A West Virginia man was charged with indecent exposure stemming from several encounters with Kingsport women beginning this past October, according to police records.

Gregory Shay, 54, Princeton, W. Va., was charged with three counts of indecent exposure.

According to Kingsport police reports, Shay allegedly exposed himself to a woman in the Kingsport Pavilion parking lot at 2626 E. Stone Drive on Oct. 15, 2013.

In that incident, the woman told police a man showed himself, but he said he was only scratching and had no intention of exposing his genitals.

The woman did not pursue charges at that time but later decided to after police told her Shay had been identified in other exposure incidents since then.

The next incident was at the Holiday Inn Express, 1217 Stewball Circle, Kingsport on Feb. 17. In this police report a female victim told police a man who was in the elevator with her got out on the third floor but stepped back in front of her before the door closed with “his entire genital area” exposed.

Police searched the hotel but were unable to find the man.

The third incident reported to police happened April 14 at the same hotel. This time the man boarded the elevator with a woman and pulled his shorts down, exposing his genitals.

Police found Shay Monday and took him to the Kingsport City Jail. He was later released on $2,250 bond.

He was scheduled to be arraigned in Kingsport Sessions Court on Wednesday morning.
