HGTV Dream Home Sneak Peek

The HGTV Dream Home is more than 60 feet high, more than 5000 square feet wide and has a 4 story elevator. After months of waiting, it's finally ready, but the inside is still under wraps. No cameras inside. But today we did get some details about the great room.

"The room is 38 feet tall, it's 40 by 30, it's almost 14 15 00 square room in its footprint. It has a 40 foot fire place in it that is 8 foot wide in stone," says Mark Mahaffey, developer for The Reserve At Lake Tyler.

The Dream Home also comes with a special doggy dream home and a dock house, which we toured today with Jack Thomasson, HGTV Dream Home house planner.

"If someone were to blindfold you and plant you in this room, you would never believe you were in a dock house of any type," says Jack.

The bedroom is made in a white-washed pine and has an amazing view of the lake.

"This dock house is like a cottage on the water," he says.

Downstairs is a sitting room and kitchen that mirrors the one in the main house, except for color.

"It's designed to be a high-end kitchen, but in a very interesting environment," says Jack.

The dock house also has an interesting window feature.

"The garage door idea came from our architect and I think it is brilliant because in the closed position this room feels more like a standard room just with spectacular views. In the open position with three garage doors it feels like you are on a yacht on the water," says Jack.

But that's all we're allowed to see for now until January 2 when tours of the home begin.
