- tix4cause Social Entrepreneurship Milestone: $300,000 for 735 Charities in 14 Months
CHICAGO, May 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- tix4cause, an upstart-gone-national in the event ticket space, joins the elite ranks of companies with a social purpose DNA today announcing $300,000 raised with 735 charity partners in its first full year (14 months). Chicago based tix4cause developed a platform for charities, universities, and other social purpose groups to raise funds by enlisting their constituents to purchase all event tickets through the 10+ million ticket tix4cause platform.
According to tix4cause CEO Mary Nemetz, who was inspired by Tom's Shoes and other entrepreneurial companies using for-profit business models to solve difficult social problems, the tix4cause launch coincided with a strong trend of companies building a social purpose into their business in response to both increasing social needs and an overwhelming consumer demand for goods and services that support a cause.
"Our timing was also fortuitous in the event ticket industry," said COO Annette Koch. "People want to make a difference and we give them the ability to easily do so. Ours is a simple and compelling model where people access the sports and event tickets they were going to buy anyway, at competitive prices, but they get to select any of our charity members that have registered with us to receive a substantial portion of our revenue because we share what we make with the selected charity."
Among tix4cause charity partners are MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers), American Heart Association, Ronald McDonald Houses, United Healthcare Children's Foundation, and Kyle Korver Foundation.
