East Texas Navy veteran returns home from Afghanistan

GREGG COUNTY, TX (KLTV) - An East Texas Navy veteran is home with his family after spending time as a jet mechanic in Afghanistan.

Navy Petty Officer Second Class, Michael Switzer, arrived to the East Texas Regional Airport in Gregg County on Saturday. His friends and family gathered with to welcome home the soldier and celebrate his return.

Switzer said, "It was nice, it was heart warming, it felt good."

Switzer's family was happy to have him back."We love him and we missed him so much, it was a lot harder than I thought," said Switzer's mother Annette Siebe.

He will be home on leave for a week before moving in to his next duty station in Washington State.
