RUSK, TX (KLTV) - Rusk County Police Department Lieutenant Brad George said investigators are hoping to have preliminary autopsy results for 22-year-old Xavier Lang within the next few days. George said they have not been able to determine if his death was a homicide due to missing information in the case.

We obtained the 911 call that came in Tuesday when Lang was first discovered in the ditch.

“Um, yes sir, I’m down here by McDonalds coming from the jailhouse and there’s a man. I don’t know what happened to him because I just came from the jail but he’s like lying on the side of the road and he’s like barely moving,” the unknown caller said.

Cherokee County Dispatcher: “On Underwood that’s goes behind McDonalds and behind the hotel?”

The caller went on to explain Lang was in a ditch as soon as you turn onto Underwood Street just across from the side entrance of McDonalds and on the same road as the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

“There’s a man out there talking to him asking him what’s wrong but he’s bleeding. His face is bleeding,” the caller said.

Investigators are still working to get additional statements from those who have information regarding Lang's death.

George would not say whether or not foul play is suspected.

Lang was airlifted to East Texas Medical Center in Tyler where he died Wednesday night.

Lang's mother, Tracy Justice, says she last talked to her son just before he was found. Shortly after that conversation, Justice says Lang's wife, Jana, told her Xavier was in the car with her mother.

"I got a text message that says Tracy he's in Rusk. He jumped out the car," Justice said. "Anyone who knows my son knows he wouldn't jump out of a car."

Justice says she thinks her son's injuries were caused by being hit in the back of the head. She's hopeful anyone who saw what happened Tuesday night will come forward.
